Travel Vaccinations
Information and advice for travelling abroad
Travel Vaccinations
We offer a full travel advice and immunisation service. If you are travelling abroad please complete and submit the travel form in plenty of time (we recommend 6 to 8 weeks) before your journey. Please collect the travel vaccination form from the reception desk at the practice.
Travel Vaccination Prices
Travel advice is covered by the NHS; however some vaccinations and prescriptions are only available privately. Payment for non-NHS services must be made at the first travel appointment.
We do not run a full travel clinic but our practice nurse can advise what vaccinations you may need once you have completed out travel questionnaire form.
The following vaccines are provided by giving you a prescription to order from a pharmacy and then the practice nurse will administer to you:
- NHS: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Hepatitis A, Typhoid
The following vaccines are not provided by the practice and if advised to have done then you will need to arrange at an alternative travel service.
- Hepatitis B, Japanese Encephalitis, Tick-borne Encephalitis, Meningitis ACWY and Rabies.
Vaccines must be stored between 2 and 8 degrees in a refrigerator; the ideal way to do this is to hand them in to the practice as soon as possible once collected from your pharmacy on the way to see the nurse.
All anti-malaria medications are provided privately. If recommended a private prescription will be issued at a cost of £7.50 and the cost of the medication will be payable to the pharmacy.
Yellow Fever vaccination is not provided in the surgery but available from specialist travel clinics.
